Mustard Seeds

We are very excited to be able to offer a new group called Mustard Seeds to run alongside Pathfinders from December 2019.

It’s open to all young children, toddlers, babies and their carers. We are using worship material called Diddy Disciples especially written for this age group by Sharon Moughtin-Mumby which aims to encourage participation, discipleship and leadership from children’s earliest years, using storytelling, singing, colour, repetition, art and lots of movement.

We look forward to welcoming you at our sessions, for more information please use our contact form.

Why Mustard Seeds? Partly because mustard seeds start tiny but grow very big and we hope that our children will grow in faith, but mostly in memory of Pat and Mike Raynor who were very supportive of our children’s work. Pat loved to tell the story of the mustard seed from the Bible and shared the tiny mustard seeds she bought back from the Holy Lands with the children.

Pathfinders

Pathfinders is our Children’s Church for children aged 4 and above. Our aim is to encourage a deeper understanding of our Christian faith.

We meet every Sunday during term time in the church hall, when grown ups are at Parish Eucharist in the church.

Each session begins with our Pathfinders song. After that we read a bible story on the same theme as the main church service, and the message of the day is enhanced through craft activities. We then return to the main church to join the Eucharist for a blessing at the altar rail and, very importantly, tell the congregation what we have learned in our session, before we finish with squash and biscuits.

Activity mornings

We also hold activity mornings at Christmas and Easter, when up to 30 children come together for craft, games and stories, followed by a short service for both children and parents.

For your grown-ups

Parents are welcome to accompany their children or remain in the Parish Eucharist.

We require parents and those with parental responsibilities to complete a registration form for their child before leaving their child in our care.

All adults who help in Pathfinders follow our safeguarding policy and have undergone the Government’s Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
