Christmas Activity Morning

TChildren’s Christmas fun and activities looking at the season of Christmas; with craft, music and stories. Parents are also welcome to stay or join us for the short service at 12 noon.

A chance to see our beautiful Christmas trees decorated by local community groups - £1 admission/children free.

Light Party

Come and join us at St James’ Church for our LIGHT PARTY, where there’ll be stories, face painting, apple bobbing, games, donut munching, craft, and crazy snacks. Come dressed as you like, as long as you don’t cover up your face or spook the grown-ups!

Come and Sing 'Great Choral Classics'

Learn and perform six of the best sacred anthems including Handel's 'Zadok the Priest', Mozart's 'Ave verum' and Parry's 'I was glad', complete with orchestra!

Rehearsal 4.15 - 5.30 followed by tea in the church hall; Performance 6.30pm

Scores will be available for singers at £3. Free admission to performance, retiring collection in aid of the Friends of St James'.

Carol Kidd’s Licensing service

Carol will be licensed as Licensed Lay Minister at Winchester Cathedral at 11am. This will be followed by an informal buffet at St James' Church Hall 2-4pm.

National Ride & Stride Weekend

St James' Church will be open as part of National Ride & Stride weekend. A sponsored bike ride or walk for people to explore and visit historical churches, get some exercise and have fun. Money raised helps fund future repairs of historic places of worship.

Come join us at Hatch Grange (within sight of the play area) for an afternoon of games.  Bring some snacks and let the kids run off some steam!

Bella Armonia will be returning to West End Church this summer for another evening of varied music. Come and support this ensemble of young professional musicians.

Free entrance.  Donations welcome in support of the Friends of St James’.

Come and Sing Choral Evensong at St James' rehearsal 4pm, service 6:30pm.

Linda’s ordination as priest and first Celebration of Eucharist
Followed by Parish BBQ

Linda Galvin, our Assistant Curate, was ordained Priest at Winchester Cathedral on Saturday at 6pm.  

Her first celebration of Eucharist was on Sunday, during the morning services.  Afterwards, we helped her celebrate her ordination with a Parish Barbecue!

Our summer fête this year marks the Queen’s 90th birthday.  All are welcome to join our celebration with BBQ, Strawberry & Pimms, Cakes, Books, Plants, Raffle, Crockery Smash, Games and more. Sit in an original Model T Ford, dress as royalty and pose for picture.

This year we will once again be holding fairtrade stall on Sundays 28th February, 6th March and 13th March, in support of the Fairtrade Fortnight.  

10% of the sales proceed will go to church funds.
